Many business owners often wonder what is the difference between these two popular website hosting platforms: Kajabi and Squarespace.
Business owners jump onto a new platform because they hear that many other entrepreneurs are using it, but I want to suggest that before you just dive into a new tool, do your research and experience the platform for yourself. Everyone’s business is different and has different needs. Having a good understanding of the platform and what it specializes in is something all business owners should do.
Here are the price plans if you’re paying monthly for each platform:
Basic $150/month
Growth $200/month
Pro $400/month
Personal $16/month
Business $26/month
Commerce $30/month
Commerce Advanced $46/month
If you have a lower budget and are not ready to spend $150 a month, Squarespace can be easier to start with.
In this category, Kajabi is better than Squarespace.
Kajabi can do emails marketing, course creation, sales funnels, and more all in one place. This means that you wouldn’t need to invest in the website platform, an email marketing platform, a course learning platform etc. You would just pay the starting rate of $150/month with Kajabi and have everything that you need for your business.
In comparison, Squarespace does not have all of these features. For example, you can’t really host a course in Squarespace seamlessly. You can find ways to maneuver around it and would need to invest in a course learning platform like Teachery, Teachable, or Podia as well. Squarespace does have an option for creating email newsletters, but it is very basic. I use Squarespace and I also use an outside email platform because the Squarespace interface for this email newsletters is limited for what I need in my business.
Kajabi and Squarespace both have great templates that can be edited easily. If you are not someone who wants to code anything, both of these platforms have drag and drop options to make the design process simple for you as well.
Kajabi is more of a step guided design platform though. This means that it is simple, but it has limitations of what you can change. In other words, you are mostly changing just colors and elements, which causes many Kajabi Sites to look the same that you will find online. You can easily tell when someone uses Kajabi as their business website.
In Squarespace, you can edit everything. If businesses use the same template, it doesn’t look the same due to the customizations you can create within your website. It is harder to point out when people are using Squarespace as their platform.
For fonts, Kajabi only has 20 fonts, then you will have to code any others that you would like to use in.. Coding fonts is not too difficult, but it does add another step to your process.
Squarespace has hundreds of Google fonts and Adobe Type Kits. If there is still a font you would like beyond that, you can also easily code in a font of your choice.
Both of these platforms are great for service based businesses.
If you are someone who will need a store on your website, Squarespace will have more E-Commerce options for you to build the most efficient experience for your clients.
If you are someone who creates a lot of courses and you want to have user logins, then Kajabi is a better option for you, as they were created for course content and have specific tools to make your course seamless.
Remember, if you are ever looking into a new software or platform, be sure to take time to mess around with the features and settings to become comfortable with it and decide if it is the right one for you. All of our businesses are different, so do not just fall into trends of a new popular program.
You can always outsource building your website to someone else to help you save time on this process. As you look into the platform, think about what you can do yourself and what parts of your website you would like to outsource to have someone build you a website that converts viewers into paying customers and is custom made to be exactly what you need for you and your unique business.
