It can be challenging to give your visitors everything they need to know about you and your business on your website home page. With this simple plan, you convert your first-time visitor into a paying client without the hassle.
Place a simple navigation menu and your logo at the top of your page.
Your navigation should be concise and clear. It should use simple language to show your visitors what they can find on your site (About, Services, Contact Me). You do not want to confuse the visitor who is getting to know you for the first time and make it challenging for them to learn more about you.
It’s also important to place your logo clearly at the top of your page. You’ll show your client that they are in the right place and start building your brand awareness.
A photo and business description are the next critical pieces of your site.
The best business photos catch your visitor’s attention, make an emotional connection and bring your brand to life. If you can’t manage a personal photo, a curated photo is fine. Try to find one that tells the story of your business and carries your brand colors. Avoid photos that look “too perfect” and try to find photos that reflect your workspace as well.
When you describe your business, keep it brief on the home page. But, be sure to put a call-to-action button, so curious visitors can learn more about you on a separate sales page. The button is especially helpful when you have a well-known signature service.
Next up is the services section, which quickly shows visitors your value.
In this section, provide a brief description for each service with a call to action button. This design keeps the home page clean while providing an easy way to learn more instead of having your homepage filled with text.
To give visitors an idea of what it’s like to work with you and build credibility with a quick win, offer a free resource with GREAT value. You can offer your freebie as a:
This is also a great way to start an e-mail list and build meaningful relationships and most importantly, encourages your visitor to come back for more.
Put in a brief about me section: Photo + Brief Description + Click for More
This should be a quick, hey this is me, the person behind this site, this is what I do, not fully who you are and your story.
Offer a call to action button so they can read more if they’re curious about your Journey, how the business got started, so they can get to know you.
The more they know you, the more confident they’ll feel when they are submitting an application form, talking to you on a discovery call, etc. It’s kind of like stalking people on social media before you go on a date so you feel comfortable with them. That’s the exact same thing you’re trying to achieve.
Testimonials, also known as social proof, are very important, because they build your credibility and authority. They also show that people enjoy working with you, and describe all the ways you’re experience or offering is special. Even if you don’t have a formal testimonial, you can screenshot a client’s compliment from a text or an amazing result in an email (hiding any personal information, of course).
Social media is an important part of building your relationship with your customer. When you set up your social links within your site, it helps keep them in your funnel and up-to-date with what you’re posting outside your website.
For the design, simply focus on your main platform, for example we use Instagram. If you wanted to add more than one, keep one large prominent link and the rest as smaller buttons (see the footer on our website for reference).
If you have a running blog, put three of your top performing posts at the bottom. You can pitch your services or provide a freebie in your posts. This can also count as a way of providing meaningful information that your ideal client will find helpful.
This homepage framework guide is one we use with all of our clients to convert their first-time visitor into a prospective lead. We’ve seen client website visiting time go from 5 seconds to as much as 90 seconds! Keep in mind the average visiting time is only 6 seconds so you want to make sure you’re offering a strategic first impression. If you’re ready to transform your website into one that builds leads, converts clients and makes it easier for you to offer your services in one place, connect with us through this form or DM us on Instagram!
